The Sagano Bamboo Forest is located in Arashiyama, a district on the west outskirts of Kyoto, Japan. This forest is one of the most amazing natural sites in Japan. The most interesting fact regarding this forest is the sound which the wind makes while it blows through the bamboo. What’s even more amazing is that this sound as been voted as one of the “one hundred sounds of Japan that must be preserved” by none other than the Japanese government. Besides the sound, the forest offers a spectacular view. Kyoto’s main streets are not too far from this place. The railing on the sides of the road is actually composed out of old, fallen and dry parts of bamboo.
